Last Chance to Sign-Up for Lobby Day!

If you have not already signed-up for Lobby Day, this is your last chance! On February 1, join Street GRACE and our partners, A Future. Not A Past. and Wellspring Living, as we come together and talk with Georgia Legislators about the upcoming bills that impact the victims of commercial sexual exploitation. Everyone can make a difference and we want YOU to help us speak with one voice and ask our legislators to pass stronger laws to fight the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) and to protect the CSEC system of care funding for victims.

Registration is required. Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation notice which will ask you additional details about transportation, breakfast, etc. There is also a Lobby Day Orientation packet listed at the bottom of the confirmation page. Please make sure you read this since it lists specifics about the day.

There are two pre-event gathering sites: North Avenue Presbyterian Church (mostly for college students) and Peachtree Presbyterian Church. Peachtree Presbyterian Church is a great option because there is plenty of space to park your car, have breakfast, meet other advocates, and ride the bus to the Capitol. This will save you from finding parking at the Capitol and navigating your way downtown. You must sign-up for these pre-event gathering spots by Monday, January 25th.

Serve, Learn and Volunteer Kicked-Off this Month

Street GRACE had over 70 registrants for our first Serve, Learn, and Volunteer Day at The Atlanta Dream Center! If you are interested in learning more about mentoring a child that lives in the neighborhood The Atlanta Dream Center serves, please contact Amy  for further information. Our next opportunity to serve will be Saturday, February 20th, from 12-4pm, at Bright Futures Atlanta—you won’t want to miss it!

Bright Futures Atlanta (BFATL) is a Christian-based, year-round program offering after-school programming during the school year and camp during the summers as well as Christmas and Spring Breaks. BFATL's mission is to provide programs and activities that are aimed at creating social change in inner-city adolescents. They accomplish this through discipleship, using Christian based character building techniques, and staying involved with the families and community.  BFATL’s home/campus is located in a residential neighborhood just west of downtown Atlanta.  While staff, student participants and consistent volunteers work hard to keep the buildings and grounds in great shape it is imperative that groups with servant hearts visit monthly to assist in grounds maintenance/renovation, building maintenance and other projects.  Pizza lunch will be provided. To learn more about Bright Futures Atlanta, click here.

RSVP is required. We can only accommodate 50 volunteers; all volunteers must be 16 and older.

The schedule for the day will be as follows:

12:00-12:30  Orientation
12:30-2:00    Outdoor work project/grounds maintenance
2:00-3:00      Pizza lunch
3:00-4:00      Spend time with kids

Get Involved with the Street GRACE Running Team

Join the Street GRACE running team! You can help raise awareness about the commercial sexual exploitation of children and raise support for Street GRACE to eradicate this atrocity from our community.

Not a Runner? Don’t worry—you can still make a difference on this team by raising support as a phantom runner, participating as a cheerer or a race day volunteer.

Congratulations to Steve Pearce, a phantom runner for the Thanksgiving Day Race, who raised over $1,400!

Street GRACE’s next event is the ING Half Marathon and Marathon. To learn more, click here.
