Coming Soon to Atlanta: Stop the Candy Shop!
save the date: November 8th (7-9pm) at the Fox theatre for a public screening
Street GRACE is excited to announce its partnership with Whitestone Motion Pictures, who is currently producing a short film entitled The Candy Shop. Funded by 12Stone Church and Doorpost Film Project, this depression era fairy tale will bring attention to the injustice of the commercial sexual exploitation of children. Compelling stories have the ability to capture the minds and emotions of people of all types and ages and encourage them to become activists. The Candy Shop will be part of a citywide campaign that will raise awareness of the issue and mobilize resources to make a difference in protecting our children.
The Storyline
The Candy Shop is a short story placed in a gritty city during the depression era. The film tells the story of a young boy who works at a fruit stand deep in the city. Across the street from where the boy works, he sees a store called the “Candy Shop”, where a frightening looking man sells candy to a specific audience. What we soon find out is the Candy Shop owner is taking little girls who wander by his shop, bringing them to his basement, where he has a devilish machine that transforms little girls into pieces of candy. Once they’re turned into candy, he takes them upstairs to his store front and sells them to his “patrons” who are all middle-aged men. The little boy discovers this and must do everything in his power to expose the Candy Shop and put a stop to it.
